House Painting Questions
How do I select an interior paint color? It depends on what you want to do with the room. If you have a room that has poor lighting, then you want to go for a light color. Light colors also make a room look bigger and more open. But what about darker colors?
Dark colors are great for intimacy, and for stark contrasts and are great for really large rooms as they give the illusion of making too large of a space seem smaller and more homey. Brighter colors are good for adding cheer to a room. Warm colors such as reds, yellows, and oranges bring the walls closer making a room seem smaller, while on the other hand, cooler colors such as violets, blues, and greens create the illusion of a larger room. Earth tones are great bridging colors and give a room an air of relaxation and class. However, sometimes, there are other tricks that you can use to paint a room in your home.
Interior House Painting Tricks
If you have a square room, paint the first wall that someone sees when they walk into a room a different color than the other walls. This will give the room a nice look while helping to make it look less like a box. If a room is long and narrow, painting shorter walls a darker color makes the room seem more homey as well.
Some people even opt for a room of many colors. One of our clients, for example, painted each interior wall a different color than the others. It made for a festive and beautiful living space. So remember, painting isn't just about picking the shade and the sheen, it is about using your imagination. With literally millions of colors and finishes to choose from, you can redecorate your home the easiest way possible: by painting your home.
